What is 9-1-1?

 

9-1-1 is an emergency telephone number that provides IMMEDIATE access to LAW ENFORCEMENT, FIRE and EMERGENCY MEDICAL services.

 

9-1-1 is a free call from any pay phone.

 

When to use 9-1-1

 

Call 9-1-1 to report a Crime, Fire, Heart Attack, other Serious Medical Conditions or Injury or any situation requiring the IMMEDIATE response of a Fire Truck, Ambulance or Law Enforcement.

 

WHAT THE 9-1-1 DISPATCHER WILL NEED TO KNOW:

STAY CALM. SPEAK CLEARLY. STAY ON THE TELEPHONE UNTIL YOU ARE TOLD TO HANG UP.

 

DO NOT CALL 9-1-1 For: Road/Travel/Severe Weather Information, Household/Auto Repairs, Complaints of Loud Noise, Littering, etc.
